    Default Wednesday! Hump Day

Good Morning, Everyone ~ Hopefully yest. was the last of the 90's. It's not supposed to be quite so hot from here on out. It was 95 deg. yest. We should be getting more fall-like weather now. Our honey locust trees are dropping yellow leaves. Some color is starting around town. The official start of Fall comes Sat.

Sadly, I learned yest. of another friend's death; Bette lived in ID. We worked together here at the hosp. She was a secretary on our unit. Also a quilter. She'd had a slow growing cancer for several years, but she suffered a paralyzing stroke which affected her swallowing, speech, etc. on Aug. 13 & died Sept. 1, the same day as my other friend. And their memorials will be the same day! One in the a.m. at our church, the other, a gathering of friends at the American Legion here, in the afternoon. She had lived here most of her life & all her friends were here.

Today is Bible Study Fellowship. It's my week to play the piano for the prelude & hymn. No more time now.

Morning Everyone...Joy, sorry to hear about your friend passing. You and I are of the age when our friends begin to pass. Funerals and similar services are treated as social occasions here. For some people it's the only time they get to see their friends.

We are having the 90+ temps again, too. I watered some plants and filled the Girls' outdoor water tubs while it was still dark this morning. I have a couple of errands to run and then I can rest.

    Wishing everyone a great day...

Good morning Joy. Looks like a clear day here today. Yesterday was perfect. We will stay in the 80's all week.
I may go out and dig up hostas this morning. I started working on a multifaceted quilt yesterday. I had some holiday antique fabric that I bought three years ago and had wanted to do a quilt in black and gold. So far I am not happy with the colors after cutting them up. I hope it does better as I go along.
I callled the repairman that I usually use to fix my machines and told him about m y warranty repair on the new machine and the motor replacement. He said he didn't think I could have doone anything to burn up the motor and that it was probably a defective motor. I think that made me feel better.
Have fun at your fellowship Joy . I know playing the piano really makes you happy.

    Morning all
I hope everyone is doing well! Just popping in with a quick hello this morning. I'm hoping to get in the sewing room today - I picked up a Singer Fashion Mate (237) over the weekend - $10 at good will I'm going to get her up and running for some heavy duty sewing projects. I do have a Singer 6215c that I got for free a few months ago, but it seems that the speed control doesn't vary a whole lot. I can't seem to get it to slow down enough for tight corners and curves (as in bag making ), no matter how lightly I press on the gas.
I tested out the 237 before I bought it, and it seems to have beautiful control, so we'll see what happens! Everything I can find on this machine says it sews beautifully. The funny thing is - when I called my hubby and said 'guess what I found at the goodwill?'.. he knew the answer without me telling him. Hmmmm....... LOL
Ok, I'm off and running!! Have a great day all

Good morning! Joy, I'm sorry about the loss of your friend. It seems the only time I see some friends these days is when another friend passes away. Today is a part-time job work day for me and it's lawn mowing day too unless I decide to put it off until tomorrow. We're expecting rain starting Friday so I'll need to get it done. I'm still quilting with the guild (there are 7 of us) once a week, but I'm not doing much for myself due to my right shoulder being strained. I try to rest it, but I'm so right-handed that I forget to not use it...oh well!
I hope everyone has a great hump day!

    Good morning ladies,

Joy - I'm so sorry for the loss of another friend. It seems that I am seeing a lot among former colleagues and friends, and somehow they are much younger. I also wanted to say 'WOW' at all the caulking and outdoor repairs that you accomplished.

Yesterday was productive. I finished shredding boxes of paper for next week's paper recycling. I dropped off the old blinds from the patio & window for donation. The cleaning lady came in the afternoon, and I already had a large pot of vegetable soup & rice going. She had not had lunch so we had a bowl together. She's a good worker. I also made a large spaghetti sauce. I use veal and xl beef. Both batches I packaged for freezer meals. The soup, I make single portions, so we can chose the type of soup we want. These are great on days I want to sew into dinner time. Take one out, stick in the oven and voila.

I have been following the damage by Florence. Besides the rain, have seen tornado damage. We may get some rain later this week, which they say is remnant of Florence. It will take a long time to get this cleaned up, provided there are no other hurricanes that follow. Very sad for the loss of life there and in the Phillipines, Hong Kong and China.

I finished the kit I picked up from the September VQC meeting. I like the pattern, just didn't care for the fabric colours, selections and textures. I also have a baby panel to sew as a guild challenge for next month.

I have doctor appointment this aft, to get test results. It's inflaation from arthritis, but what type? I want a referral to a specialist. I need to be proactive with this one. I have way too much fabricand need to be quilting well into my 90s and possibly past 100 (goven family genes).

Have a good day everyone. Saty dry. Stay cool. Stay safe.

Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Every day I try to do one thing that challenges my comfort zone.

    Good Afternoon All,

This morning was home school. There was a knock on the door, not the door bell. Before even a good morning,Mom call AT&T your phone is out again. I tried your cell, no answer. So, I checked my cell, whoops, I turned it on vibrate Sunday for Church. With it in the kitchen, I certainly wouldn't have heard it vibrate! Next, check with AT&T before home school could start. I apologized to the young man, but geez I was just on the phone with them last night about the over charges on my bill. "Someone approved adding HBO and Cinemax to my cable"... well it wasn't me, and it ****ed sure wasn't Howard because he's dead. That poor girl got an ear full. Mike was talking to Jerrod at the time on his cell, and Jerrod told him it was time for him to shut up and hang up. I think I was sounding a little testy. It's all fixed, and I'm not being charged for the two premium channels I didn't want anyway. The phone's fixed, too. Apparently they were doing improvements in the area and knocked it off? Really now?

J only brought 1 math sheet, and his language notebook. I looked at the poem, it's one by Emily Dickenson. Holy cow, I was confused after reading it. How in heaven's name is a first grader going to get it? I asked J if he knew what the Lord's Table was, he was like NOOOOooooooooooooo, what is that. I told him to talk to his Daddy about it, and I picked another poem from my collection.

We did a couple of experiments, talked about the layers of the earth. He worked really hard and right before it was time for him to go to Nana's he started playing with the left over half square triangles left from Hope's quilt. He's decided how many squares across and how many rows. He's also decided on making diamonds with the colors in the center. Tomorrow we'll sort the blocks into the four patches and see if his layout will work (it won't, but he'll have to figure out a solution).

Tonight, I'm thinking about starting some bowl cozies, once I rested from my busy morning.

Joy, I'm so sorry for your loss. It seems like I see friends and family at funerals anymore.

Suzanne, I hope they find out what's causing your pain and are able to provide relief!

Terry, I'd love to see the 80s. I woke up to 81 this morning, now it feels very close to 100 with the humidity. After the trip to Walmart, I was ready to come home and put my feet up in the sweet AC.

Oh, Jerrod is in Connecticut seeing his dr. again. Checking on his blood sugar and head aches. Poor kid had a sinus infection, but great news is- the infection did not make his blood sugar tank like it use to do! That's progress, and they're still dropping the amount of corn starch in his every three hour doses.

Prayers for those in need. Prayers for travel mercies for those attending the Birthday Bash and Forum retreat (have fun, btw). Prayers of thanksgiving for all of our many blessings.
    Katrina
