Default Lattice quilt question - see photo - is this workable?

So I have this beautiful layer cake...and I know it would be really pretty as a lattice quilt.

But I would rather make it "larger" then the charm size. Do I drew a diagram and while I think it could work. I thought well I need the confirmation from other quilters. Instead of cutting the layer cake down to charm size, what about cutting corner to corner, both ways....and have four instead of two like from a charm square.

Or if anyone has done a lattice quilt like this (see photo) I would LOVE to see your quilt.

Thank you all so much for help.

I think it would be lovely with the bigger pieces. But I would increase the size of the Lattice strips also, using 2.5 strips instead of the 1.5 used with the charms.

Edit: after additional thought, I would only cut one diagonal line, otherwise you are going to be dealing with bias edges on your blocks.

This was my version of my lattice quilt in progress. I cut strips 6 1/2" wide, then cut diamonds using the Jaybird ruler. I added a 1 1/2" border. Of course I wasn't using a pattern as I made this the first few months that I was quilting. It's one of my favorites as I learned a lot.

Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Every day I try to do one thing that challenges my comfort zone.

I enjoyed making the lattice quilt but I did use the layer cake and just cut it once each direction. The prints were beautiful and plenty large.

That was, hands down, the most fun quilt I have ever made. It was super fast. Here it is:

That is very clever. Thank you for that. It could work well with a solid too. Oh how cool!

I made a lattice quilt and it was not the "correct" way, I suppose, but my friend loves it.

It wasn't easy matching all the points, and I know there are more missed ones than perfect ones, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.Click image for larger version.
