Default To Square or Not To Square

    Good Morning & Happy Saturday

I just finished my diamond in square squares for my table runner and was wondering if I should square the blocks before sewing together. Do you square your blocks before sewing together?

Yes, I learned the hard way to square my blocks before sewing them together. Even the smallest size difference creates exponential difference in the finished quilt. I’ve found 2 square rulers very helpful - one big and one small. Would love to see your finished table runner!

Yes, always square up your blocks. It's easier if you do it as you go.

Yes! I square up every block before putting together. Just think of how much time and money you have put in to your project, taking the time to square up before hand will leave you with a better finished project and your sanity intact!

Always square blocks first. If the block has many
pieces I will square the block several times
    before completing the block.

Yes. In quilt class we were made to square and double measure at every step. Had no trouble matching seams or putting it all together with being this precise.

Yes....please. I rented time to quilt a quilt...only to find that my quilt would not "load" correctly. After pinning, repinning, adjusting, removed the quilt from the long arm and found out it was out of square by 2 whole inches.....I had to leave and rip, rip, rip...now it's sitting in a tub waiting for me to square the blocks and resew together. I was so upset that day. Probably why it's still in a tub. :/
There are no perfect quilts, because I am a imperfect quilter.
