Default Prewash fat quarters for a wall hanging?

I always prewash my yardage to get any excess dye out but I am wondering if it is necessary for a wall hanging? I'm thinking it won't get the wear and soiling of a quilt that is used and washed regularly so is it necessary do you think? I have some lovely batik fat quarters I would like to use.

Personally I would not prewash for a wall hanging. I don't prewash my precuts anyway, including FQ's. If you do need to wash it one day, just throw a color catcher into the wash and all should be well.
