    Default Memorial Quilts

Making Memorial Quilts for a friend whose husband passed away. Going to make 4 lap sized quilts - one for each child (ages are 14, 18 & 23) and one for my friend. I have gone through the bags of clothes given to me and have “deboned” all of the shirts Bonnie Hunter style. I was able to cut 140 layer cake squares, 200+ charm squares and probably 2 jelly rolls of 2.5 in strips. Planning to use the layer cakes to make quick quilt tops. Any suggestions besides the double slice quilt? Since they are Memorial Quilts I want the fabric to be center stage, not the pattern, and I want them all to be different patterns.

    Suggestions?
    Happy Quilting!

What about falling charms? You could also use the layer cake instead of charms.

    Yes, I was thinking:
    Double Slice
    Alter Ego
    Yellow Brick Road
    Falling Charms, or
    Disappearing 9 patch

You could make large HSTs with the layercakes and make different arrangemts for each quilt. Or do the same but make hourglass blocks. If you keep the in color fs,lilies, they'd all be different

I was thinking of using patterns that could stretch the most with some solids. I like the idea of the falling charms. That's a lot of work ahead of you!

I like this Modern T quilt; it reminds me of the double slice layer cake, but with more variety. https://www.missouriquiltco.com/shop...attern-by-msqc

My first thought was: Falling Charms ... I am sure that whatever you choose, they will be loved and cherished ...

Thank you for sharing your site. My Dad passed away in May, and I have asked my Mom for some of my Dad's shirts, when she is ready to part with them, so I can make a quilt with them. Can I ask a question? How many shirts do you use to make one of your memory quilts? I have no idea how many shirts I will need.
