    Default Butterflies and heat'n bond

Am trying to finish up some UFOs and this is one of them.
I used heat n' bond to set the butterflies which I fussy cut from one of the fabrics in the top dresden/fans.
I did that once before but then machine appliqued around each butterfly.
Will the heat n' bond hold through washings? I'm not sure I want to applique each one but just quilt over them.
    Thanks for your direction!

    Probably not.

If you do small enough quilting and it catches the majority of each butterfly, you may find just those edges not caught in the quilting will lift up. But with regular heat and bond, without some sort of stitching (either applique or some serious quilting) it will not hold up to washing.

There are four different kinds of heatnbond. They are feather lite, lite, regular, and ultrahold. Only the ultrahold does not need to be sewn down. The other three need to be sewn down.

    Gorgeous quilt, by the way.

Many thanks for all of your comments.....I'll sew each little applique down just to make sure.

Absolutely beautiful quilt! I think you're smart to applique stitch the butterflies. It would be shame if the applique edges lifted when washed.
