    Default Quilt with handprints

A friend asked me to put together blocks with her familyís handprints. The quilt is going to be given to her grandmother as a gift. Her family members put paint in their hands and pressed them into blocks. The paint is sort of thick in places. It wonít affect me putting the squares together with sashing strips. However, I am concerned about having it quilted. I donít do the quilting part so I have no experience with painted blocks. Iím wondering if the long arm quilter will have any difficulty quilting through the paint?

Maybe....probably....the Long Armer could just outline the hand prints and not sew through the paint?!?

I'm thinking if they use a paint that is specific for fabric that it wouldn't be an issue.

it's best not to try to put it out with gasoline.

It was fabric paint. It’s just thick in areas. I tested it with a pin and was hard to push through it in places.

What a challenge. Good luck with it.

I like to outlining the prints for two reasons - one the paint but secondly, it will make the hand prints pop which will be a nice added touch.

I will ask the lady who does my quilting to outline them, that is a good suggestion! Thank you!
