    Won't I get in trouble I had my hand slapped once a few weeks ago was going to send a copy of a pattern to friends but was reamed for doing this even after I told the person who owned the pattern I was going to purchase not copy it was horrible lesson learned

    No, you wouldn't as the applique I'm describing are not part of a pattern. (though they do sell patterns) It's no different than buying a precut. For example they sell laser cut turtles. You could put them anywhere you wanted on the quilt.

    Heather did the shop cut these or is there a company name for the appliques you could tell us?

    Also, surfergirl explained in another thread that animals are not traditionally included in Hawaiian quilts, which was very interesting, I had no idea. I'm not saying to use or not to use a turtle, I think it's up to you and your recipient. The post was really informative.

    Thanks Heather. Those in the link are based on more traditional designs that use the folding technique, like making snowflakes. Sandy's project is a modern design and will have to do applique.

    And Sandy you better not under cut yourself!

    Yes I know that they are not normally on true Hawaii. Quilts but this isn’t a traditional Hawaiian quilt and it’s nit being done by hand either thank goodness lol
