Pack your suitcase with clothes that you do not like or no longer want. After you have worn the clothes while on the trip.....throw them away. This will leave you with greater space for large fabric purchases. And it will keep your baggage minimal for flying. I am excited for you!
Blogging ahead.....research in quilting and sewing with a dab of cooking/recipes too.

Or you could go to the post office and mail a package home. Send your dirty clothes and keep your fabric in the luggage. That way if the packages get lost you still have your fabric.

Don't forget, she's from Canada so the shipping is more expensive.

My sister always packs a suitcase within her suitcase, then she has an extra for all of her goodies.

Have fun. I will be there for the Academy and can't wait.

Patty J that is so funny. I too would be a lot more upset if my fabric was lost instead of my clothes!!

What I did the last time I was there....

There are sooo many quilt shops that it's easy to get overwhelmed. If you have a cameraphone, take a picture of a storefront before you go in, and then take a picture of anything you really like. Once you've visited all the shops, you can sort through your pics and see which fabrics/patterns/etc you really want to pick up, and then go back to get them.

Anything you know is in stock on the MSQC website can be bought in the stores. If you cannot find it in the appropriate store, talk to the staff and they will order it from the warehouse. They can then contact you when it's brought into the shop (usually a few hours later) and you can go back to purchase it.

I know if you do their retreats, they will ship your purchases home for you for free if they're more than $100 (keep your receipts) - I don't know if that applies to someone who is just visiting for a day or for someone who lives outside the US.
