Default Batiks Table Runner & Topper finally finished!

I've been working on 3 projects at once & finally finished this table runner & topper yesterday. I have many scraps (left from another project) that measured 2.5" square & others that were 2.5" x 4.5" so I put together my own pattern for a table runner. I finished off my sample block as a small table topper. I have more scraps that eventually will get made into a lap quilt. The vertical strips are sashed with Moda Grunge, "Essence by the Yard", which is considered a white color, but actually is off white, almost a light tan, with splashes of white & light green. It's a good blender. The backing is a lime green metallic fabric I purchased from Walmart many years ago. I had to piece it in 3 places to have enough. The binding strips had to be pieced almost every 16-17" to get enough length.

I used one of Angela Walters' FMQ designs for the body. I used Glide "Celery" 40 wt. trilobal polyester thread for the quilting. The border FMQ design is one of Tracey Russell's -- see whirls and swirls, APQS Ontario on YouTube. I've used several of her designs & enjoy watching her short tutorials on YT.

I sew on the binding with my walking foot -- stitch on the front & it catches the edge on the back. It takes precise measurement with the sewing gauge to get it pinned evenly all the way around. I press the binding front & back before stitching. I have never used binder clips. If I'm lucky, I can catch all 4 corners without having to re-do any.
There are more pics in my new album. Thanks for looking.Click image for larger version.

Great modern design and quilting. Love that celery thread; it has a nice sheen.

They are beautiful and good use of leftover fabrics. Your FMQ is beautiful. I know with practice, I can improve. It's those darn feathers. I need to get those in my muscle memory.

Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Every day I try to do one thing that challenges my comfort zone.

Suzanne ~ Did you sign up for the latest videos from Angela Walters? They going to be all about FMQ feathers. I watched the first one yest. That's one design I haven't mastered yet, so I'll be practicing for sure.
