    Default 9 Patch Madness

I love making the disappearing 9 Patch quilts, I love this one that Jenny recently made, my problem is that I would need this for a king size bed, how can I make this larger? Thanks, Normabeth

I have not started this yet, not sure how much more fabric is needed.

It calls for four packs, so maybe 6 or 8? I don't know how big a king is.

I am not sure if that alone would work, as the blocks are turned - see layout https://d62zadma0c9t.cloudfront.net/...-madness-0.pdf looks like their are five block across, seven would make it to big

the quilt looks like it is five blocks across, the blocks are turned to make the center diamond, seven block would be to big as it is, the quilt measure 81 x 94

I meant 6, 7 or 8 packs, not the blocks across or down. You can always use the extra for a cool backing. Or just add a bunch of half blocks or borders.

Here's a nice little chart for Charm Packs.
    http://www.quiltngo.com/Data/Sites/1...size-chart.pdf

For a King Size quilt, she suggests you use 7 or 9 charm packs, making a 16x16 or 18x20 charm layout, then add borders to get to the precise size quilt you want.

    Hope this helps!

First you need to know what size you want it to be. That would be your matress size plus how much you want it to hang down. A King is 76" x 80" and if you want it to hang down 15" [10" is probably too short] you'd need it to be 106" x110"
Each d9p block is 13" so 7 blocks across would be 91" , and you can get the rest from a 7" border or a 2" and a 5" borders. so if you went with 7x7 for 49 blocks, then 9 charms per block, you'd need 441 charms! That would be 11 charm packs, or 2 layer cakes can be cut into 320 charms. 3 layer cakes would get you 480 charms.
Or you can just make your own charms from yardage. There's a chart to make precut sizes from yardage in my signature.
