    Default Quilt back

    Can I back a 100% cotton top with a 60/40 backing?

Personally I wouldn't do that. The backing and quilt top could shrink differently. Someone will come along and say that they do it all the time....lol!

It is personal preference on what fabrics you choose to use in your quilt. Like Bubby said, you will get different shrinkage rates.

If the 60/40 is the broadcloth from Joann's, please reconsider. It is so thin and poorly made, that the effort you put into your quilt top will be wasted.
K is for Karen .....................Cremation - My last hope for a smokin' hot body.

    Before you speak,
    T - is it TRUE?
    H - is it HELPFUL?
    I - is it INSPIRING?
    N - is it NECESSARY?
    K - is it KIND?

I agree with Karen about the 60/40 broadcloth from Joann's. I ripped out all of the quilting so I could redo it with another back. That was a lot of ripping.

I use nothing but 100% cotton for both pieced tops & backing fabrics.
