I have Malwarebytes and haven't had a problem since. I highly recommend them!

I called one of the main people; she said not to bother with Geek Squad, but recommended Computer Specialists, which are 2 older men who specialize in tracking down problems in people's computers -- both desk tops & laptops. They've been in business 14 yrs. & really know what they're doing. They found a Trojan in my laptop, cleaned things up, & installed those programs I mentioned. I thought the $95. they charged was reasonable. I'm faithfully running the programs as recommended: weekly for all except the Defraggler, which was to run once a month, but I've been doing it every 2 wks. The CCleaner, I run before shutting down, just about every time I'm on the computer. Most times it removes ~100 cookies! When not in use, I always shut down my laptop. I don't leave it on, unless it's running the weekly virus scan. A computer left on & unattended is open game for those out there who troll & hack. I'm still shopping for a new lap top. I have no way of knowing how long this one will last. It's 8 y.o. & probably is nearing its life expectancy. I'm still using Windows 7. I know I'll have to learn W-10 when I get a new computer. I'll take another class to learn how to use it.
Thank you. Good to know that Geek Squad is a no-go. I'd love to find a good company like your Computer Specialists.

Thanks, Lorie. I'll go look at that.
Toni ... If I keep sewing long enough, will they make their own dinner?

I got a warning this morning that the MSQ was wanting to change software on my computer. I closed it immediately.

I also added Malwarebytes and love it. I was really having trouble, downloaded Malwarebytes and ran it: it cleaned up 3 malware units I had not been able to get rid of. You get a 14 day free trial; after that , for the whole program is $39.oo per year for 1 computer. Other prices for multiple computers. I recommend it, it's working great for me and a good bargain at that price.
