Default Split nine patch Sandwich.... or not !

    Hi

I thought I would get my split 9 patch quilt top to sandwich status to day.

I guess I have to rethink.!

Just as I had laid out all the layers and was smoothing out wrinkles the Darn tape got loose!

grrr... So there was nothing else to do then to neatly fold the top and batting layer and put them away until I can get to the shop and buy better quality tape!

I think I have to console myself with watching my craftsy classes on free motion quilting.
Then I might get some inspiration on what to quilt on this quilt. It is approx. 59" by 78".

    Have a great day/evening

    Annika ( cursing the "%¤#& tape ) ;-)

I hate when that happens.....Grrrrrr, with ya!

One of the reasons I've changes how I sandwich. I hand quilt, so I've got many options......

    The technique I now use:

You made me laugh this morning Annika! I've had the same thing happen. I use blue painter's tape and it usually does a pretty good job....sometimes I just don't push the tape down hard enough..grrr is right! Beautiful quilt top.

Is that a new brand of tape? Bless your heart, I know exactly how you feel. Been there done that.

Check out Sharon Schamber's YouTube video on board basting. Only way I do it now.

Hi, I just read the posts about Board Basting....I watched a video by Sharon Schamer, but it appears that this is good for the hand basting, not spray basting? I opt to spray baste because I do have trouble with my hands when pinning and unpinning. Has anyone tried the Board Basting method when spray basting?

No,, but it is a tape that is similar to the one I usually use. My ordinary tape was out and I got this instead.

    Bad choice.

Seen a tutorial where instead of taping they used flannel as a securing layer when spray basting which protects the table and secures the back layer also. Don't remember where I seen it. Thought I would try it!

I have never used tape, but I understand how frustrating it is when you can't do something the way you want, because of equipment failure.

I use a giant sheet of plastic, and spray baste. After doing this many times, the plastic is now tacky enough, to hold the backing nice and flat. Amazingly enough, I fold the plastic in half and then roll it on a cardboard tube, and it hasn't stuck to itself. It always unfolds easily.
