    Controlled Scrappy Quilt [Stash Buster]

I grabbed my hefty bag of scraps, bits 'n pieces and started sewing them together. I figured I could use up ALL of my scraps. HA! I don't think I even made a dent in the scrap pile!

I did not use any paper foundation for the blocks; however, I had some adding machine tape laying around and used it to sew strips for the border. That was a huge help when it came time to trimming since I didn't have to worry about measuring! The adding machine tape was already 2-inches. Next time I'd like to use 3-inch adding machine tape.

I used my Hanging Gardens pattern (from Cozy Quilt Designs) for the layout. I had to do some math (ouch) for the setting triangles since my scrappy blocks were smaller than the pattern.

Making scrappy bits 'n pieces blocks is definitely fun, no-brainer sewing.

Very cool layout and I especially love the border. I feel the same way about scraps. You feel like you're really putting a dent in them, then once you start digging they seem to multiply.

I just today noticed your "The Farm" link under your cute picture! Oh my gosh, how interesting your info is about the sheep and the dogs. I have never heard of either breed for the sheep and the dog. Loved reading the info. What an interesting life you have. And a lot of work! Thanks for posting your quilt and the info on your farm.

I think those scraps multiply with use! I made 5 quilts this winter, all scrappy, and I used a lot of pieces.....but my boxes are still stuffed! I will NEVER get them all gone!

Thanks for the tip on more info. about Sheep Farmer's life in her personal profile & link to the farm. Very interesting. More work than I'd be willing to take on, esp. at my age. I have never heard of that breed of sheep or those dogs. I viewed your user notes, too, about all those links to quilt shops & info. on pre-cuts. I'll remember that for future reference.
