Default What a horrible Monday it is (speaking of weather only)

Good morning everyone. We had freezing rain, pellets most of the day yesterday and into the night. The winds have also been howling all night. A very nasty day to say the least.

Yes, today is my birthday. I am headed to the city with Bonnie today. She is taking her son back home. And we will stop for some retail therapy along the way. And a lunch somewhere.

I finished my purse on Friday and then started a zip up tray pouch. Not finished that one yet. My friend Lynda gave me a pattern for a sewing machine tote bag from Among Brenda's Quilts and Bags. I also bought a jelly roll from a lady in Saskatchewan on the Canadian Quilters facebook page. It is a Tula Pink jelly roll. I want to make a quilt with Jenny's new tutorial. I have that one on the brain.

Anywho, be safe everyone in the path of storms. We will catch you tomorrow.

    Have a great day.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

    Good morning all!

Have fun today Monique.....we could all use some retail therapy! Since it's your birthday.....it's a gift to yourself!

Rotten weather here too.....shouldn't complain.....it could be worse. It's been rainy since Friday evening.....almost non stop. High winds. Power out all over (thankfully we kept ours; power was flickering for awhile....held our breaths!) branches down. Freezing rain. Now flooding. I need flippers!.....or duck feathers!

Hope everyone is safe and warm. Have a great day. Hugs to all!

Good morning Monique. Sorry your weather is so nasty today. We've got some nasty rain and wind here with occasional real heavy downpours but nothing freezing at least.

Didn't get much done sewing wise in the sewing room yesterday but did get some things moved around and straightened out so that's something. I totally enjoyed the ACM's last night. It was a nice way to wrap up the weekend.

Have a good day everyone. Be safe if you are dealing with these unpredictable spring storms.

    Hello Folksies!

Oh Monique! And my other friends here - why does it seem as if really scarey weather is a Rite of Spring? Plenty of stinky weather here late yesterday afternoon and evening. I am about to go outside and see if we lost any trees. I stayed with Mom last night because we had so many tornado watches. Surrounding communities within our area were affected more than we were. Hoping everyone here was safe and spared damage.

I did stitch a little bit mid afternoon before the storms arrived. This morning I need to clean up my room some. I can't find my rotary replacement blades . . . a sure sign of a cluttered room. Or mind. I am trying to remember where I moved them to last go round of cleaning. Argh!

Off to go pick up Sis to come back to Mom's with me for coffee and hugs. Gots to love the Mommy.

Happy Birthday, again Monique. I hope you have a great time with Bonnie today.

It was nasty yesterday afternoon. The front line of the front was the worst, once that past through it was mainly wind and rain. DS#2 got home earlier than normal. Rain kept most people in, so they were able to get the store cleaned and set up for the over night crew before closing time. We celebrated by ordering pizza for a late dinner.

I finished up the May Secret Santa, and got cutting and key holes sewn and cut for 2 baby quilts. There's a shower at church in two weeks, so I need another baby quilt. Today after we take the young ones back to Nana's, Mike and I are going to make an errands run. Mother's Day mug rugs need to be mailed. We're mailing DH's air brush to DS#2's former girl friend. Mailing a package to Melinda- sending her the freebie Block that I got in my order. Then off to the long armer to drop off my Sticks and Stones. Mike needs new glasses and so do I so hopefully we'll be able to get in at Walmart to get that process started. We'll have to see how the time goes.

Time to get busy, put up the computer and shut my sewing room door to keep little ones out!

Prayers for those in need, prayers of thanksgiving for all of our many blessings.
    Katrina

Good morning ladies. Happy birthday Monique, and enjoy your day. Be careful on the road.

We are also having crappy weather. The rain started Sunday afternoon and was freezing, with pellets. Crazy winds. I hate this kind of weather. Our cats are walking around cautiously. DH is staying put today. No need to do the Ice Dance. I am glad that we trimmed branches off our large trees last fall. I am worried our wobbly fence might keel over. Very fitting if it did as we have a fence company coming to look at it this afternoon. I am hoping that it roads will be better this afternoon, as I have had a massage booked for awhile.

I didn't get much sewing done this weekend. The electrician came yesterday and did half of the work we needed done. He did find a danger that could have caused a fire in one of the switches. It was a wire not connected. I'm glad it's all getting looked at. This was one of seven model homes on the street, and they are sometimes finished quickly to use as show homes. While he was here, DH and I went through our closets for clothes to donate. I've divided the pile. Good clothes to my mom's residence for their large sale. Good clothes, but minor stains for my GKs school. There is a company that buy by weight and money raised is for special activities.

My mom called Saturday, she has been having indigestions, more frequently. This can mask many other issues. They treated her, but they did talk about sending her to hospital. She is funny. She goes over all her funeral arrangements and gives me a list of those to call, and relatives she doesn't want there. I told her I have it all taken care of. I also tell her that if she is well enough to think about this, she is not ready to go.

Going to put salt out on the walkway. Our cleaning lady said she would make it this morning. I've got boots with built-in cleats, for this type of weather.

Stay safe and have a good day.

Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Every day I try to do one thing that challenges my comfort zone.

As I sit and drink my morning coffee I'm watching it SNOW outside. Good grief, it's got to stop soon!!!

I spent most of the weekend making boy quilts for our local hospital. When I volunteered Friday they had a cabinet full of cute quilts for girls and nothing for boys. These are all simple, and quilted on my machine, but they are boy friendly and cute.

I'm heading into the office to get some work done but will be dreaming of finishing up a really cute quilt made with 30's fabric. I've set a goal to complete it by the end of the week. I saw the pattern online but am tweaking it to make it bigger. My math skills are lacking so I've had a couple of oops moments.

Monique, have a wonderful birthday. It sounds to me like it's going to be spent in the best way, shopping and dining with a friend.

Happy birthday Monique. I know you'll make a happy day of it in spite of the weather.
Glad that electrician found that wire. No real excuse for hurrying thru a job like electricity...model home or not. Where is the pride of workmanship in this country.
I quilted yesterday and got two of the Shriners projects quilted and bound. I spent Saturday sandwiching so the rest shouldn't take too many more days.
I need to drive into town today and get a few groceries. The snow didn't come yet. Its 40 out there and raining. Oops! I just looked out the window and here it comes, big wet flakes. Goodness, I hope it doesn't get colder and freeze the leaves on all my tender little hosta plants. It makes them so ugly all summer when that happens.
Boy quilts huh? Isn't it funny how much pink there is in the world ? I wrapped my baby boy in left over pink blankets and I had the prettiest little knit stocking cap that was perfect for a baby in the winter. Yep...it was pink...and people would look over the shopping cart and say...Oh what a pretty little girl and I would just smile and say thank you. He was warm and they didn't know us so I didn't really care. But, yes, it is nice to have some neutral colors and blues for the boys.

Happy Birthday Monique! Have fun getting out and about that and having a nice lunch and shopping date with your friend. Those days are the best.

More snow here this weekend, we got about another 8" and it is snowing again right now. Green Bay, 2 hours north of us, got 23.2"!! I am sure glad I don't live there!! My dh went cross country skiing yesterday, he said it is the latest in the year he has ever gone.

No sewing for me today. I am heading out to work as soon as I finish this cup of coffee. Everyone have a good day.

Yes Monique have a great birthday!!! 19 inches of snow here in the past two days. My driveway got cleared last night. My mother has an MD appointment today. I was thinking we should cancel due to the weather. She has a sidewalk to the road, that she must navigate to the car. Since she wants to go, my friend will help me escort her to the car. It is a routine check up. So I was thinking lets go in better weather, but.....There will be no sewing today.
