Default My first "real" class and first bargello

I recently took a 3-part class to make an Infinity design from Elaine Wright's book "Twist and Turn Bargello Quilts." This was my first official class, where I paid real money to a real person live and in the flesh, and also my first attempt at a bargello. I haven't had it quilted yet and am not sure what I'll have done, but I am happy with the outcome and confident I can make another bargello or ten in the future. Hooray!

Really beautiful. Your fabric choices just glow. Excellent workmanship.

Your colors really pop, I like what you've done with the Bargello.

Absolutely beautiful! I have stayed away from bargellos so far.

Sewluvit, I've been quilting 4 years now and have been intimidated to try a bargello. I'm not very patient so it didn't seem like a good idea. My close friend and quilting mentor provides longarm service to area quilters, and one of his customers brought in a couple bargellos she'd made. He quilted them for her, then she announced she was giving a class at a local shop. Tom (my mentor) and I have always agreed that if I attempt a bargello, he'll attempt a one-block wonder. So we took the class together, although unfortunately he got sick and ended up in the hospital, so he didn't make much progress. The instructor is going to make a house call to help him, but I managed to finish the top. Although I had the same book/pattern already, it was really helpful to have someone who'd made it before to explain the process. Now the book makes much more sense, and I will definitely tackle some of the other designs at some point. So, if you find a bargello class nearby, or even a tutorial that you find helpful online, I suggest you give it a shot - I'm amazed mine came out so well!! Now for Tom to get back on his feet and do that one-block wonder ...
