    Default My first quilt!

I'm learning how to sew all over again and on a new sewing machine! This is also my very first attempt at any sort of quilt. It's made from a pink and blue jelly roll I got on clearance at JoAnn for $5. It's fresh off the sewing machine here, not trimmed or anything. Sooo many mistakes...but that's why I bought the $5 roll to practice with. Besides, they're not suppose to be perfect....right???

Pat yourself on the back!! Now that is one "first" you can check off your list of firsts. Can't wait to see more from you. Personally, I think sewing the strips together is a big challenge because they can get wonky, and if you don't know that you should not sew them in the same direction all the time, then you can be a little discouraged by the outcome. Great job!

That's a great first quilt....congratulations! It gave you plenty of good practice sewing 1/4" seams.

I was a little disappointed in the outcome of this one, how the colors fell. I left them alone after opening the roll. There were a few different patterns on the pink and the blue strips, but they're hard to see on the picture, and on the quilt unless you're looking right at it. I think my next ones will be better, they are better quality jelly rolls with way more colors and patterns.

Oh yeah...my 1/4" seams always want to turn into 5/8" seams. Old habits die hard apparently! Well that and I'm just stubborn!
