    Question Becca bag

I'm having trouble preparing the zipper. I cut off the stops, removed the first 4-5 teeth on one end, fed one side into the pull, fed the other side into the pull, but I can't get it to zip. I'm using a Coats polyester all purpose zipper. Is there a trick to getting it to zip or should I try another brand (the recommended YKK)?

When I put tabs on zipper tape, I also remove two or three of the teeth on one side. I also make sure to put fray check on both pieces of the tape.....it makes the edge crisp once it dries and I find it easier to get the pull on.

Are you using the same zipper pull that came off the zipper? I can never get any other brand zipper pull to work with Coats and Clark zips. Also make sure your zipper pull is facing right side up.

Ok, finally got it together. Yes, I'm using the same pull that came off the zipper. It doesn't zip very smoothly even though all the teeth are aligned. It looks fine but it's very hard to zip. I'm not sold on this pattern.

It can be a torture to get the zipper pull on and I made several Becca bags because they are perfect gifts, fast and easy to make and look perfect. The only recommendation I can give is to be patient...:-)

I have heard that rubbing a bar of soap on the zipper it will lubricate it. I told my SIL this for his work overalls and he said it worked perfect.
