I agree that the portrait was not well done, doesn't even look like her. I also don't think the dress suits her, but it looks great on the stick thin model.

Well, since both President and Mrs Obama chose the artists, I suppose they got the look they wanted, but I would have hoped for a more traditional look.

These are going to the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery. They are having traditional ones going to the white house.

I think they are cool they picked black artists and are different from the norm. Can you imagine all the portraits of Trump out there? It would take a whole gallery alone. lol

I love the dress...the pattern reminds me of the quilts of Gee's Bend.

I looked at the designers site and saw more fabric kind of like that. To me the design looks printed. Could not see any quilting. I'm with the thoughts of most of you that the portrait doesn't do Michelle justice.

I don't care for either portrait. I think they are hideous and don't do either justice.

I don't care for it either. I see nothing flattering about it or the portrait.

What a shame, neither one is smiling and the background on President is so busy that it takes away from his character. I would have thought that Michelle could have found a better looking dress to wear for the portrait. I don't care for either portrait.

I really like his portrait. The mass of foliage with a few flowers looks awesome. And it looks like the president.

The other doesn't look like Mrs Obama at all. The dress is meh to me.
