    Default Tuesday Trivia: Snowblowers

Ah those clever Canadians! (We know some!!). They also invented the snow mobile too!

It should be no surprise that the modern snowblower originated in Canada.

In 1870, civil engineer Robert Carr Harris of New Brunswick patented the "railway screw snow excavator" for removing snow from railroad tracks.

Ontario inventor Orange Jull patented another train-powered snow removal device in 1884, but the modern road-clearing snow machine we know and love today was patented in the 1920s by Quebec businessman Arthur Sicard, whose namesake company still manufactures snow-removal equipment.

Now, I wouldn't consider either of these even close to what we have today, but what do I know? ..........
I would rather never have to use one, but they are very handy when you need one.
I only say this cause we've had LOTS of snow this year......more than we need......does anyone ever need snow? Not me!

Hooray to the Canadians. We are a smart lot. (wink wink)

Only the ski hills want more snow. oh and the snowmobilers do as well.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

Yup we are clever and adaptable. We have to be to survive the weather we get.
We also invented Silly Putty, zippers, post-it notes.

Enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Everything else will follow.

Every day I try to do one thing that challenges my comfort zone.

While I agree our Canadian neighbors are very clever and adaptable and lots of fun, but some Americans would disagree about who invented Silly Putty, zippers, and post-it notes....

but in fairness, I will give all credit to the Canadians for some very important inventions such as the Electric wheelchair, walkie talkies, pagers, Instant Mashed Potatoes and the very popular sport of Basketball (just to name a few of their many wonderful inventions that we all know and love around the world).
