    Question Quilting thread colors

Looking for opinions. I've made this very bright and colorful quilt out of Tula Pink True Color Fabric. I have a tendency to match my thread colors to the fabric, but with the variation in this quilt I think I would drive myself crazy switching out thread colors.

    What color/colors would you use?

I'm fairly new to this and I'm quilting on a domestic machine. Trying to hide my mistakes, but realize I may be overdoing it with the color changes. I tend to make high contrast brightly colored quilts.

Sorry I'm no help. I hand quilt and can do whatever I want. But I had to tell you, your quilt is gorgeous and I can only imagine how much greater it's gonna be once it's quilted, No matter what color(s) you use!

Will be watching to see what the more experienced quilters say on this one..... I am new to FMQ and have quite a bit of trouble with the thread color choices.

Luv, Luv, Luv the colors...... so beautiful!!

Thank you. I should probably go with my gut, which is to match the colors. I'll just be at my machine for a long time.

Thanks. This is my fourth free motion quilt. Lots of small practice pieces. I'm going to use rulers on this one!

I think a light gray would blend with all your colors very well, especially a 50 or 60wt. Love your quilt.

I would go with a rainbow verigated thread. Your quilt is stunning!

Like you, I tend to make high contrast brightly colored quilts. I used to match my thread color to the background color, and change thread colors frequently. For the last two years I have been experimenting with using variegated thread on my quilt tops. The variegated thread usually has three distinct color changes in it. It allows me to use simpler quilting motifs, while achieving a subtle sophisticated overlayer effect. ( I think it is sophisticated looking anyway)

Here is a fun variegated choice

My first question is: Do you plan to do an all over, edge-to-edge quilting pattern, or are you going to custom quilt it -- going around all the blocks, etc.?

I am a hand quilter too so I am not sure my opinion should count, but I would use one color on everything, maybe a nice raspberry as it would not clash with anything and would definitely show up. Love your quilt! The rainbow border is really cool. Let us see the finished masterpiece, it's going to be a knockout!
