    Snow Day...A Record Breaker....Don't Laugh!

Friday we were stunned, waking up to this view! The news said we might get some sleet & snow flurries during the night. We really didn't expect to see anything and had forgotten about the possibility. I opened the door Friday morning and this is what I saw. The local news said it was a record breaking snow for us for December. I also posted other "big" snows for our area. It's been 44 years since we had this much snow here........a whopping 2.1" inches! Don't be jealous.........or at least don't laugh. Everyone down here was properly impressed. The snow day was just the way we like it........here one day and gone the next. Just thought I would share a few pictures of our impressive event.

Hahaha I am laughing!!! That's about how much we got in Wisconsin the other night. We all considered it nothing to get excited about! I had to pull up your profile to see where you live. That does seem extreme for Louisiana! In the future could everyone list their state if they are talking about the weather. Because you know where you live but we don't!!!

Well, we had less than that in Spring, TX (near Houston) and it was still exciting, so no laughs here. Right in there with you. I looked at it, took a phot and went back to bed!

My favorite pic was the bush with the red blossoms with the snow on it. I'm wondering how much snow Terry in NC got. She already had 6". I heard on the news this a.m. that some areas of NC got up to 18". We remain sunny & bone dry in Colo.

We got about 1 - 1 1/2" here in NE Tenn. We are not in the mountain part. My grandkids got out of school early on Friday - you would have thought they never saw snow in their life. They just moved here from NJ. Best kind of snow -- in the trees, on the grass, not on the road. Beautiful for a couple of hours. Hopefully attachment will show up of their creativity in the snow.

I love the snow, wish we would get a little. Have to drive about
1 1/2 hours to the mountains to play in it. I can see the
              mountain tops from my home.

ditto to Kaiser. We all are sort of used to snow and there you got the most.

I got just over a foot at my house. That was the second largest storm to hit my area. The largest was in 93. My power went out at 6:30pm on Friday we got it back 45 hrs later! There are still about 10,000 people in my area without power. I walked through the yard earlier and I have at least 30 small trees that I will have to cut down.

I really hate it when the voices in my head argue among themselves as though I wasn't even in the room.

Isn't it awesome to get so much snow when you live where it hardly ever snows? You got more than I did in San Antonio, Texas. My cousins who live south of me waaay down by the border got a good amount like you got, maybe a bit more.

What is so cool is seeing everyone, kids and adults alike, outside laughing and smiling at the beauty of a little flakes! It was pure joy.

But I'm glad it's gone now and we are back to temps in the 70s.

When I was a senior in high school I lived in El Paso, Texas. Well it snowed and the kids there had never seen snow before. We got 1/2 inch and they were all trying to make snow angels. For someone from Missouri it was hilarious.

I grew up in Southern California. It snowed once when I was in Junior High, but I had to go to school and
couldn't really play in it. So I never saw a real snowflake until I was 20 years old. I couldn't believe that it was all lacy and beautiful, you know, like the paper snowflakes we did as arts and craft projects in school. As in Life Imitates Art, right?

That day it snowed, I had a huge test with the meanest teacher at school. She disappeared while we were taking the test. When she re-appeared, she brought us all hot chocolate from the cafeteria. That was the day I figured out that she wasn't mean; she was strict, but had a heart of gold.
Toni (Southern California) ... If I keep sewing long enough, will they make their own dinner?

My 19 yo DGD has has been living with me since Hurricane Harvey. She awoke me at 30 to get up and see the blanket of snow in our backyard near Tomball, Tx ( NW of Houston). It was really pretty. Everyone here was posting snowman pictures, etc. It is always an event here when we get a sprinkling.

Our cairn, Cooper, loved the snow! You could hardly keep him out of it! He wanted you to go out and throw snowballs for him to chase for hours on end! And then he would put his head down in the snow and plow thru it like a tank....he was the funniest dog ever!
