My grandmother had an interesting one. 'Once you take the trash out, you'll always be taking the trash out'

Isn't that the truth! Especially whether or not your house is clean enough for company. I used to wear myself out cleaning house before company so much so that I was too tired to enjoy the company. Who really cares if they spot a dust bunny that you missed?

We also knew we were in trouble when the middle name was used!

If you had a poutty lip, Mom would say: Don't let a rooster land on that lip!

Also, if you were making a horrible face: Hope your face doesn't freeze looking like that!

Some of the above ones posted were used in our home also. Great memories ... miss both my parents ... they were compassionate and caring people and looking back, they were wonderful parents!

"who licked the red off your lollipop?" was the chant when i didn't have a smile on my face.

Oh the memories! Thanks for this thread. I know all these and more. The most memorable to me was a saying she used when I had to deal with someone that was troublesome. "Don't poke a skunk" she would say. I've used it many times myself.

Don't think I saw this in the listing: "Make sure you always are wearing clean underwear in case you get hit by a bus!" Really, if I got hit by a bus, I don't think my underwear would be clean, and I doubt that any doctor would care!!!Click image for larger version.

"Don't get your undies in a bundle." Mom said this all the time! Sometimes I said it to my kids too, it would always get them laughing. In the old days undies was almost a dirty word, so the kids thought it was naughty to say it out loud. Wow times have changed!

When my kids were small and behaving badly, Mom would say, "You're payin' for your raisin'.
