    Default Sourdough course

    Hi
Today I have been on a Sourdough course with my coworker at a local bakery .

    It was a blast

I got one loaf with nothing added to it and one loaf with toasted sunflower seeds in it.
And one loaf with roasted walnuts in it.

And some hard bread ? not sure what it is called in english. There are at the far left in the picture.

And I got some sourdough starter to take home with me.!

Guess there will be some baking in my future !

God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The stash to make a quilt to help me cope,
A quilt to give to comfort those I love in times of hurt, fear and uncertainty.
And the courage to keep on sewing when life itself seems held together by a single thread of hope.

I used to bake sourdough bread all the time. I made my own starter & kept it going. I collected recipes & books on sourdough baking. I used it in pancakes, cookies, cakes, etc. Of course, I was a stay-at-home mom then & didn't have diabetes, so we ate a lot of bread. I have a whole 3-ring binder notebook of recipes I worked up. I had a lot of fun with it. Enjoy your new adventure.

I too made my own starter and experimented with making lots of different things. My favorite thing to make is english muffins. I quit doing it when my DH was in the hospital and I was having a hard time keeping the starter going. I dried it and have it in jars in the cupboard. I should get that started again.

Yummy! I used to do all things sourdough until my DH was diagnosed with diabetes. It all stopped. He no longer has diabetes, but we're not going back, so no bread.......mmmmmm, I do miss bread.......I'll eat it once a year at Christmas. I make a "quick" sourdough and then give it all to everyone when they leave. Your loaves are making me drool........

Annika, I love making Sour Dough bread !
When our youngest was a baby, I started making sour dough once again. At 15 months old, Jordan was enthralled with the starter! He would ask to "add" to the starter when it was time, and he even named the starter "Chocolate" ( ??? I have no idea where the name came from..Jordan never liked candy, even at a young age...he preferred yogurt or fruit) Anyway, I have some really cute photos of Jordan adding to the starter, and helping to make the bread.

I haven't made sour dough bread in a few years....maybe I will start it again!

I named my starter Duffy after the Royals starting pitcher Danny Duffy. Sad that he is no longer here.

I love making bread when I have time, maybe tomorrow. Last weekend cinnamon rolls were tasty with nuts, raisins and caramel. After they were almost gone, I realized I had left out the cinnamon.

    Enjoy your new baking skills.
