    Unhappy Help with Vintage Necchi

    Hi,

About a month or so ago I posted about the sewing machine cabinet I purchased at the Goodwill that came with a Necchi Nova in great condition. I kept the machine, had it serviced and got it back a few weeks ago and I have been sewing on it since with no problem. While sewing this past week, it started squeaking, so on the advice of the women at my quilt shop I have been oiling it every time I use it. Unfortunately, it is still squeaking Does anyone familiar with vintage sewing machines have any idea why this machine is squeaking and do you think I need to take it back to the repair shop? Thank you for any ideas or input you may have.

There is a yahoo group you might considering joining: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/...chineclub/info

How about talking to the individual who serviced it. Also, is your oil fresh?

    Hi from Virginia,

I grew up in Bethlehem and Allentown! How are things up there? I am coming up this weekend for my niece's baby shower I did join the group on Yahoo but haven't heard anything back yet. I did think about calling the repair shop today and see what he says and as far as I know the oil is fresh; I got it from the repair shop when I picked up the machine a few weeks ago. Thanks for the input; I am hoping I don't have to take it back in though.

Thank you; I will look at them after work. Hopefully there will be some idea on what is going on. I worked fine until a few days ago

Does the machine have a belt? That could be the squeeker.

Yes, it does. Do you know how to tell for sure that is what is squeaking and how to fix it? Thanks

IF the squeak is the belt, that usuaally means the belt has stretched and is no longer taught on the pulleys. Your repair person can address that by either adjusting the pulley, or replacing the belt. Btw, this is not a specific for your machine, just squeaky belts in general.
