Default Janome MC 6600 or ELNA 720 Excellence?

I'm a new sewer and am leaning to quilt. I tried the ELNA 720 at the dealer and it sewed beautifully. I understand that Janome bought ELNA years ago and was told by the dealer that they are exactly the same machine . I was quoted $1899 for either machine. Which would you choose? Thanks

Yes, Elna is made by Janome. I own both brands and they are great machines. I have the Janome 7700, Janome 350e, and a Elna 900 combo sewing/embroidery machine which is the same machine as the Janome 1200. I bought my first Janome about 5 years ago and have never had a problem with either of them. I've had the Elna almost a year and love it. I think you'd be happy with either one you choose.

Since they are virtually the same machine, I would choose the one where you have good dealer support for maintenance and warranty work. I had a Janome 6600 at one time, and found it to be a wonderful machine. I often felt sorry that I traded up and got rid of it.
