    Purple! Augh!

For a year now I have been trying to put together a purple quilt. I have some batiks that I really like for this project. I tried a "Hunter's Star" but it was just not working. It needs to be mostly purple, no whites. The person I'm making it for is not really a quilt-type. I had the thought of just a simple medallion. Suggestions!?

What about a bordered periwinkle? Emerald Isle with a color for the solid?

What about HSTs? Doesn't have ro be a pattern per se. One of my favorite hst quilt was one I did where I just randomly laid it out so the lights & darks & different colors were fairly evenly distributed. I'll try ti find a pic

Found one! Made I for my college-age nephew. He liked it.

What about adding a shade of gray or several shades of gray with the purples?

I did a Disappearing nine patch with shades of purple and some green thrown in. I used a charm pack called Lagoon.

Purple can be tricky because unlike blue and green the range is limited. Here is my attempt at a quilt for a purple lover.

Thank you all! I have checked out all your suggestions. Sewpreetiquilts , I finally understand this issue of the purples. I have an idea from all your help. I will make 4 squares up and see what happens.

                    Again thanks to all!

Here's the binding Star Quilt tutorial that Jenny did :

Here's the Bordered Periwinkle tutorial :

Here's the "Take Flight" tutorial :

What about an illusion Quilt ?

Or better yet.....what about a "Present " Quilt ? I don't think that pattern looks Quilty at all ! :-)

Here's another one that I think it awesome as well and to me doesn't look so quilty either!
The Grand Adventure Quilt Tutorial :

I think if you wanted a quilt that doesn't look so "Quilty" the Present Quilt OR The Illusion Quilt is your best bet.
Or....the "Grand Adventure Quilt " would be a great idea too !
