Default When a name allows for acceptance. And a beautiful story

l disliked almost every choice I made on this quilt, but for some reason I kept going with it. It was to be a baby gift to a coworker I really like. One day as I was working on it, the name " My Primitive Heart" came to me That name gave me comfort. The almost too bright colors and rough looking heart shape were " primitive". I was surprised at what a difference that made for me. I started liking it. I think I went a bit too far in only doing top and bottom border, but I kept with the primitive theme.

When I gave it to its recipient I could tell she was touched. Later, she came and told me this story. Her grandmother had taken pride in making the baby blankets her grandchildren and great grand children came home in. Her grandmother was taken suddenly ill. Her last day in hospital, as she drifted in and out, she was asking for fabric to make the blanket. She passed away without making the blanket. Luckily, her mother had saved her blanket so the baby will come home in her great grandmother's creation. My friend told me how grateful she was, and she felt her grandmother would be, that this baby also got her own handmade item.

I was very happy I had continued with this one! It means a lot!

That's such a beautiful story to share with such a lucky child.

I love your Primitive Heart quilt. It is beautiful, and your sentiments about making it are wonderful. What a nice thing your coworker did by telling you her sweet story about her Grandmother.

I guess it was just meant to be. Some times the ones you make just because you value a friendship or a person really hit their heart. I recently made a comfort quilt for a friend with MS. She sent me a photo of her with a big smile and holding it toward the camera showing the label. Her comment was this is my favorite part and I will always treasure it.
