These shirting fabrics are remnants that were destined for landfill. The lady I purchased from managed to convince the factory to let her have them instead and the money she receives from quilters like myself she donates to several charities. All she asks is that we post pictures of what we make. The fabric is of the highest quality and goes to making shirts for prince Charles and Daniel Craig and many others, I'm sure. I bought 5 bundles thinking that would be enough for a quilt (I think that came to about £23 plus postage) but there is enough for about 3. I've backed it with a very cosy fleece, it is very lightweight but oh so cuddly. Nearly forgot to say, all quilted on my domestic Janome 8200. Maureen x

Your talents are endless! Absolutely lovely! The colors remind me of a quilt I had handed down to me from a friend whose grandmother made in in about 1890 mainly the coloring. I am sure it contains shirting fabric (not from the same source, though). How was the fleece to quilt?

That is beautiful! The quilting makes the fleece look entirely different, and lovely.

It was an absolute dream to quilt. I did baste it first with 505 spray so that it wouldn't move or stretch under the fabric.

Love those fabric colors. I've quilted 2 quilts with fleece backing. The FMQ was easy & looked nice.

The shirtings give it a nice vintage feel. Great job!

    Simply wonderful!
Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.
