Default Question about those old eclipse "glasses"

Didn't they use to say that you could view an eclipse with old x-ray film, or was it using camera film negatives?

Anyone remember and is that actually true?

Here's what the glasses need to do. When you put them on you should be totally dark. shouldn't be able to see headlights or lamplight's! Only the sun

I'm thinking back to the 50's or 60's and what they were saying then :-)

I believe that they said it was safe with exposed X-ray film but that IS NOT TRUE. Don't try it!

Nooooo, I wasn't going to try it. I just find it interesting the discrepancies of what was said back a ways and now a days and visa versa. I mean, lets face it we were told to hide under our desks if there was nuclear was back then.

I seem to remember people using negatives when I was a little kid. We did the pinhole thing with a shoebox
