How many of you hand quilt instead of sew by machine, not talking about final quilting where long arms are used.

Still hand quilting all my quilts. Got a hoop and a floor frame. I still have no desire to ever do it by machine.

I am not a fan of hand sewing at all (not that good at it), I will do the back of the binding on special gift quilts, but most of mine are machine sewn bindings - front and backside.

I enjoyed all manner of handwork for several years. At this time, my preference is machine work, although hand stitching the binding is still an enjoyable method for me.

I have a hard time with FMQ...just don't have the hang of it or the patience to practice. So, I hand quilt. I love to do some Big Stitch quilting as well with pearle cotton. It has a sashiko look to it. I no longer piece by hand. I do enjoy machine piecing and hand binding is relaxing as well.

Me! Me! Me! I love hand quilting. (Probably because I really suck at machine quilting. I can make a pot holder look like a hot mess.)

I mostly hand quilt (big stitch). I have hand pieced as well. (I think that's what you are asking).

I do both hand piecing (and needle turn applique) as well as machine piecing. And I hand quilt as well as free motion quilt on my sewing machine. I do more and more by machine, and save the hand piecing and quilting for really special projects. I thoroughly enjoy the hand work, but it takes much longer and a touch of arthritis in my hands limits the amount if time I can spend per session. I can work much longer at the machine.

Julie: Advil works great and you only need one tablet in 24 hours. I take one whenever my hands feel achy and it always does the trick and I hardly ever take any medicine even aspirin.
