wow it sure sounds like Bubba is the QUEEN. I made the Pink Sandy Beach Fiji Tote and found it very easy to follow the directions.

What size are you thinking about? A regular shoulder bag or cross body bag? Zipper top or open? What styles does your daughter like?
Pink Sand Beach Designs have some great patterns, my current favorites are the Barbados Bag and the London City (both cross body) and the Brentwood bag which has a zipper closure that is amazingly easy to do.
So many choices, so little time......lol
I was going to recommend Lazy Girl patterns as well. I've made several of her bags and they go together very nice. She also has a Craftsy class, two I think, that are excellent. Full of good tips. If you take the class you get instructions to make the bags too so it's a pretty good deal. If you go to her blog you can probably get a discount for the class.

I have seen some bags that friends have made from Swoon Patterns.

I am really wanting to make this one at some point:

Of all the Swoon patterns I've made, I like Annette, Brooklyn and Charlotte the best.

I've made probably about 17-20 bags mostly to give away.... I'm a crazy nut and can figure out math by looking at the pictures....I am a costume design major in college so I learned how to flat pattern... but those swoon bags look pretty neat and easy to make.... I have about 3-4 books on bag patterns if you know what style you like shoot me an email. I can send you links I have of free patterns from Craftsy or my books. (Which I think is allowed bcuz as long as your not selling the pattern it for personal use)

Lazy Girl would be good to start with if you have never made a bag. I like Swoon, Betz White, ohhh... so many good designers!
Chris W. (Chriswdesigns) is one of my faves, and she has patterns ranging from easy to advanced.
Here is a freebie from her - I don't know what style of bag your daughter likes, but this one would be a good 'first' bag. It does have grommets and hooks for style, but not a lot of fussy inside work.

Another option is to PM Bubba if you don't want to make it yourself

We have several bag making queens. Bubba, Karen McEuen, Jean, and Cindy (seaturtle), and Delores are all excellent bag makers. Any advice any of them give you would be excellent.
