Default How to make a square quilt into a rectanglular one!

I have a UFO that I would like to finish. It is a Big Carpenter Star which I just had enough to make 9 stars so it is 3 by 3 making it square. I would like to finish it into a queen size for my bed. How do I go about adding the sashing....just add more to the sides and the bottom ??? Thank in advance

That is what I would do. Someone may come along with more/better ideas.

I looked at Pinterest and saw some cool ideas.

Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

You might consider a pieced border for the top and bottom made out of leftover fabric from your stars.
