Default Tips Re: Using Knit Fabrics for Quilts?

A friend asked me to make a quilt for him using his 20+ knit soccer jerseys (80% polyester, 20% cotton).Having never used knits before, I need some tips and guidance on how to make this project a success.
    Thanks very much!

I have not actually used knits before, but I think you are going to need to stabilize the back of it (same concept as t-shirt quilts). If you google up on making T-shirt quilts I think it would be much the same principle. I am pretty sure there are some decent tutorials on Youtube.
    Hope this helps.

Be sure to stabilize the shirts with a light weight interfacing to prevent stretching. My favorite is a woven interfacing, Pellon SF-101. If you have a JoAnns, this is a good time to use a 50% coupon. I buy it by the bolt.

Fusible interfacing, but make sure the iron isn't set too high or you will melt the polyester. I have use some in the T-shirt quilts I have made. Once it is interfaced, just treat it like any other square.

Ditto on the SF101. It's great stuff!

I have made one quilt from baby clothes - onesies etc.
Highly recommend SF 101. Follow the Pellon tutorial on youtube showing how to iron on the SF-101.

I also shared my process and experiences in the following blogpost.
Be warned, I whine and it is a long post.
