IMO, serger thread is not as good quality as 100% cotton thread. I don't have a serger, but I had bought some of that thread once then decided not to use it for quilting. I gave it to my neighbor who has a serger.

My long arm only likes SoFine thread. I'll send you others that I have that don't work on it, perhaps your machines aren't so picky!

Serger thread is only 2ply so it wouldn't be as strong as regular sewing thread or quilting thread.

Another thought... if you want to come down the mountain... Gastonia has Long Creek Mills Embroidery and sewing thread. I buy all my 100% cotton quilting thread on big cones.. very reasonable prices. 108 S Webb St Gastonia, NC 28052 (704) 864-6651It's a small family business and they're very nice there.

The question about RAYON THREAD had me also wondering about it, so I did a Google search. There are two very good articles on Connecting Threads & Superior about threads. Superior has pics of threads that are untreated & treated (washed with bleach). The rayon thread did not hold up well. I learned rayon is used more for decorative stitching, embroidery, or maybe serging. It's not as strong as polyester thread. I personally would not want to use rayon thread for either piecing or quilting.

I can't thank you all enough for responding to my needs. I am overwhelmed with your generosity! I will never be able to repay you all but I know we will have a record year for the kids at Shriners children's hospital. God bless you every one.

I may have 1 or 2 Gutterman thread. I will check and send to the Longnecks Restaurant addy above.
