Baby quilts are just such fun, partly because they work up quickly. It's that "immediate gratification" thing I think we need once in a while. The disappearing nine-patch is my go to. Never fails. The ones shown in this thread are great inspirations!

I don't have any pattern suggestions, but I wanted to say that you shouldn't fret so much over 'girl' and 'boy' quilts! The gender segregation on this forum actually astounds me sometimes and I'm not even LGBT!

Most younger people tend to not hold to the old colour schemes. My blanket as a child was blue and friends of mine recently did their little girl's room in orange and purple. I gave multi-coloured receiving blankets last year with a bit of pink in them for a boy and no one cared - the family was thrilled and used them in portraits.

I saw a post on the forum recently asking for 'masuline' quilt block patterns. Say what?!

So don't stress. Pick something you like and at least if it's not pink with fairies on it, no one will care.

So true! I get sick of the pink for girls and blue for boys!

Since gender isn't an issue, why not a red, black and white. Those are the first colors a baby sees. Great contrast to provide visual stimulation.

Sherri - They are all beautiful, but the first one just "speaks" to me. It's almost in her chosen colors too.
Do you remember the pattern name? They are in their late twenties and I think something a little more contemporary like this one would be perfect!

MHG Winnower - I love the DNP too, and have made a bunch of them! I had thought of trying the D4P for this since the blocks are small, but not sure.

If you don't mind buying a pattern "Take 5" is a good one. There is another I believe from the same company that only uses 3 farbics. D9P is a good one for babies-1 print and 2 solids.
