    Default Binding help

I just wanted to say thank you to all of you who sent me advice with binding. I've watched tons of videos, read about thousand articles and practiced on several different projects and finally came up with my favorite one! I have done this one twice and it has worked both times!

PS Two inches of snow on the ground in Washington, seems like a good day for sewing!

I cut it twice and it was still too short!

I was so fortunate to be taught binding by the Exalted Goddess of Binding (Stitching Woman) at on of the Missouri Star retreats I attended. For those who don't know, Bernice (Stitching Woman) is one of the wonderful people who work in the machine quilting department of Missouri Star. She had binds or machine binds many of the quilts that are bound at Missouri Star.

And just so you know she has the patience of Job, she taught me how to put a binding on!

Well, I guess I learned something this evening. I had never left the scant 1/4" gap between the two ends of the binding. I don't remember seeing that done before, but I know sometimes mine didn't turn out real smooth. Now I know why!

That is how I do mine. I had always left a little gap but after watching this video some time back , I started to leave a bigger gap. Looks so much better than no gap at all. Really smooth and snug fit. Glad you found one you like!

Found this technique years ago - can't remember where. But it works perfect for me - every time!
