    If you don't want to finish the way Jenny does in her tutorial (using half-cores all around the edges and then a standard border & binding), you could use a bias binding, yes? There would be no border in that case, but I believe it would work if that's the look you're going for.

    Look at the pie to go tutorials and you will see how she does no machine piecing. Though she does not say how she anchors it down before quilting.

    Looked again at the pieplate pattern and zoomed in - I think the apple cores could be appliqued!! What do you think?

    I agree I think that I would have to, I don't like raw edges. Also think it would be a waste of a lot of fabric as the one I am thinking of is a king size.
