    Default Should I start over?

I bought my second jelly roll and I'm not happy with the way it came together, color placement. I already made one like this, so I don't feel like I learned anything. Should I take it apart and try one of the many video ideas that Jenny has posted for a jelly roll? What's an easy one for an new quilter and a not-so-steady user of the rotary cutter?

I wouldn't take it apart. Maybe you could try this instead.

    Or this

Or maybe just cut it into strips and add a neutral to break it up. Kind of like this.

How about http://www.modabakeshop.com/2010/11/...lap-quilt.html ? Super easy and very cute with the right fabric. You could even move placement of the squares so you do not have to line up seam allowances.

You didn't say what you did with the pattern. Did you just sew the strips together? If so...do not take them apart. There are a number of things you can do to change this. One of my favorite is cutting corners. Theres a tutorial but basically, just cut them in 10 inch squares and then make them into hst's. At that point, you could take a coordinating color and make HST's and then put them back together. Here is one I made. Click image for larger version.

I have a JRR top from a Kaffe Fassett roll that is...hideous is a good word, lol

I plan to do what Grammaterry suggested I just haven't done it yet

Even though it was awful (and seriously, I could tell as I was sewing it up that it was awful. why didn't I stop? LOL) it did teach me a good lesson about what kinds of JRs work well for a JRR and what dont, so there's always that...

I did a Jelly Roll race one time and hated it. When it was done, I re-cut it into 2 1/2" strips in the opposite direction and 'raced' it again. It came out like I had sewn a million 2 1/2" squares together. It looked really cute and scrappy when it was done.

I love this idea. I am not a big fan of the jelly roll races but this is a cute idea.
