My favorite thing is the wonderful smell of the house when the turkey is roasting and the pies are baking. I'm not a turkey fan but I love the traditional side dishes and, of course, the pumpkin pie with real whipped cream. Leftovers are nice.

I must be a weirdo-I like the turkey, dark meat please. That being said, I have already gotten several texts from college age nieces and nephews regarding the NEED for sweet potato casserole they tend to skip the pies and just sprinkle extra mini marshmallows on a plate of this and micro for a dessert.

We usually skip the traditional and have a themed dinner - one year it was seafood, another it was Greek. Whatever we've not done before and would like to try, that's what we do. No real turkey eaters here.

Cranberry sauce and dressing with gravy. I do also love the stuffed dates I make at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Thanks to my family's traditional lack of interest, I don't have to bother with it at all. I can have turkey or any of the other dishes whenever I want.

I love inviting friends over for my version of Julia Child's deconstructed turkey. I stuff the thighs with stuffing and try to board the leftovers just for me.

Cranberry sauce made by grinding fresh berries and thin skinned juice oranges in an old fashioned grinder. Roasted rutabaga , dressing and gravey.

Stuffed dates sound delish...care to share your recipe?

I think I like sitting around the table after we eat and talking about anything and everything. I particularly miss my father after big meals, he always did the dishes and I loved helping him and talking.
