    Default England

    Hi

On Sunday will my eldest daughter fly to England!

She will be there for 3 weeks and will stay at the riding school in York

it is a school exchange program.

I will miss her terrible but I know she will have the time of her life!

Any good quilt shop in the town York? I am hoping I can convince her to buy me some jelly rolls or so.

    Have a great day/Evening

    Annika

Wow that sounds like such fun! I hope she will have a great trip. I seem to recall a huge train museum in York...

    Hi Annika

I live about an hours drive from York. It is a lovely city and the Minster is amazing. I'm sorry I can't help you with the fabrics shops, but I 'googled' it for you and there does seem to be a couple round about. The problem with York is that it is very much a tourist destination and as quilting isn't so big in England, most of the shops will be stacked with souvenirs. Sorry I can't help you.
I'm sure your daughter will have a whale of a time, but I hope she packed a raincoat - we get LOTS of rain!!

Thank you so much for the info. She loves nature so she is not afraid of rain.

York is the most beautiful place. There is so many fabulous buildings and history in the area. A lot to see and do if your daughter has some time off. In terms of fabric stores, there is the Viking Loom which has moved just out of the town (a google search will show up the address). If she is able to go up the coast to a town called Scarborough, there is a fantastic shop called the Scarborough Sewing Centre with the most incredible range of fabric I've ever seen. They don't do a lot of pre-cuts though but their prices are very reasonable. It would also be a lovely day out for your daughter. I hope she has the most fabulous time. I've visited York every summer for the last 5 years.

I too go to Scarborough, usually a couple of times a year. The Scarborough Sewing centre is amazing and the staff are so helpful. I always spend way more than expected but hey ho! If your daughter gets chance to go there she can find it on Aberdeen Terrace which is off the main shopping street.
