    Default sewing sitting or standing?

    Hello friends,
I am about to reorganize my sewing mancave.
I want to get a 36 x 80 table and I was wondering if I could place ma sewing machine on it.
So I wonder if I could get used to sewing standing up?
    Any experienced standing sewers here?

Interesting. My daughter and son-in-law have a standing desk for their laptops. I know this is a current trend. I think it is certainly doable, but not for me. I have too many back problems to be able to stand for that length of time. But I am curious and hope you will let us know what you decide, and if you go for a standing arrangement, let us know what you think about it.

Yes a drafting chair would raise you but, how would you reach the "foot pedal"? Would never work for someone of my height!!!

I did for a few years in a sewing factory, but it is much more tiring.

I would for sure trip and fall off a tall chair like a bar stool!! I can't imagine sewing standing up for even an hour. I need a regular chair. My dh stands at his desk to use a laptop (works at home) and whenever i have to type something for him (all the time) it just feels so weird. Anything more than a sentence or two and I go to my desktop PC and my regular desk chair.

I have my machine on an antique drafting table. For me, standing is less painful than sitting. My vision is such that I have to take off my glasses and bend over to see the needle area if I am sitting, whereas since I am 5 foot one inch, the machine on the drafting table is right up near my neck so I can see great. So, no bending in half equals less pain. I don't do prolonged sewing sessions. I do own a drafting table chair but I never use it. I just use the stop and go button on my machine anyway. I never did get the hang of a foot pedal, but I could sit it on the floor next to where I stand if I wanted to, I suppose.

Doesn't Jenny stand when sewing on the tutorials? I tried that one time and it seemed the machine went faster. LOL!
