Linda, I didn't participate in the mystery this year. It comes at a bad time for me, being tax season in the US and all. Between my son getting married and a hurried trip to my mom's (she & dad are ok for now, but not great - another long story), I haven't had much time to devote to much else. I still haven't finished Bonnie Hunter's last mystery. Crazy times here. I hope you'll post a picture of it when it's done. I love seeing them.

Hello, the math is wrong in the PDF.
It says cut 2 x 3x8 of the dark and light fabrics.
as you can see it should say 3x9.

Thanks for heads up, I was planning on trying a few of these today or tomorrow, now I will cut the 9" lengths and if need be trim them a bit.

No, the math isn't wrong in the pdf. I've made a few already. Check your seam allowances. the 9 patch is 3" x 3 = 9 - 1" for seam allowances.

I think when you sew the 9 patch together you will lose 1" for the seams.

well only 12x12 and not 12.5 x 12.5 as requested. I guess I will have to redo....

Check your seam allowances. That's likely where the issue is. This is where I learned about getting the seam allowance correct: Quiltville's Quips & Snips!!: That Quarter Inch!. If you're making your own quilt, all the blocks, it's fine if your seam allowances are consistent. When you're making blocks for a group project, you'll be a hero if you can get your sizes correct. Thank you for keeping trying. Also double check your cuts... Actually, it should measure 13" square when you're done...

Thank you, thank you, thank you...I was guiding the fabric at least 1/8th too wide, I tested and the actual G spot (!!!) is at the small indentation on my quarter foot.....there is even a small metal dot, never paid attention to that, thank you for the link, it opened a light at the end of this tunnel...
