    Default Sharing a laugh

I've reached the age where the 'kids' in the family are starting to get married. My nephew just happens to be engaged to my niece's best friend. Here's a conversation I had with my sweet niece Emily, who loves quilts, about a possible quilt for her best friend's wedding.
Me - Do you think Hannah would like a wedding quilt?
    Emily - I think she'd love it!
Me - I'll need your help picking out the fabric & pattern because I really don't know Hannah very well.
Emily - she likes yellow, grey, batman & pirates
Me - ..........I don't know how to respond to that

I don't know I just thought it was funny.

I think I would have had the same reaction.

However, I have seen some very pretty yellow and grey quilts! I would leave out the pirates and batman - after all, you are the designer of the quilt!

Haha. Maybe limit the pirate/Barman thing to a small part on the back. I am in the same boat here, planning a wedding quilt. Asked the bride's sister about colors and whatnot and her response was, "oh they love beer, so anything beer related would be good!" And I am like, "Huh???"

Yep, it sure is a different generation, that's for sure. I like the yellows and greys, just would be a stretch for batman and pirates, maybe incorporate that into the label.

You have to put Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) on that quilt, if she likes it the husband will too, tee hee. Here is a pic of a grey and yellow and white quilt that I made from a kit from Connecting Threads.Click image for larger version.

That made me chuckle. Getting fabrics in the colors they like can be dealt with but cartoon characters would be a stretch for a wedding quilt. Maybe a big label on the back with Batman fighting Pirates on it?

I've made my DGDs bed size quilts as their engagement gifts. Since I had given DGD Catherine a bed size quilt when she bought her condo I thought she may not have liked another one for her engagement. I was wrong because she said she and fiancée had already chosen their colors, amethyst and grey! Had them look through my purple fabric stash so I knew what shade of purple to buy (blue or violet hues). Searched local area quilt shops as well as those in Lancaster PA to no avail and finally found the perfect fabrics in local Joann's of all places. They are Joann's better fabrics and both Catherine and her fiancé loved them. Used a medium and dark shade of amethyst with grey for the blocks, darker one was also the border and binding. Looks blue in the photos but it actually is a dark jewel color. Quilting done by M*.
