    Default baby quilt

    Hi

I just got a request to make a baby quilt.

She wants a fairly small quilt. about a little smaller then a yard in width and length.

Any tips to find inspiration on baby quilts ?

I thought maybe I can use some shirt fabrics ? Good or bad idea ?

Any thoughts and hints and tricks are welcome!

    Annika

God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The stash to make a quilt to help me cope,
A quilt to give to comfort those I love in times of hurt, fear and uncertainty.
And the courage to keep on sewing when life itself seems held together by a single thread of hope.

How about the new tutorial from this morning. It would be cute for a baby.

Most of the quilts in my albums are baby quilts. Browse & see if you come up with any ideas. A 1 yd. size quilt is very small -- not even big enough for a crib.

I like to use bright solids for my crib quilts.
Using colors for either sex, red, orange, green, purple.
They have really cute baby fabrics to mix/match with solids.
You can find a lot of free crib quilt patterns on the Internet.
I would talk to her about making the quilt larger, babies grow
fast and won't get much use out of a small quilt.
I like to make my crib quilts 35 X 45. Since our fabrics are so
narrow these days. But like to keep them WOF.
Allowing a couple inches for quilting loss.
Be sure to use good quality fabrics, baby quilts
are washed a lot. Poor, thin fabrics won't survive poor
    thin quality fabrics.

More for beginners but very interesting. I like the simplicity. Pricey but they currently have 20% discount. DIY Baby Quilt Kits - Itty Bitty Handmade

Look at the quilt that Carol sent the Shriners benefit raffle. I posted it today under, look what came in the mail today.
