Dad's new throw for his bed

Dad requested a sort of throw for his bed, made out of old embroidered linen.

I quilted along the embroidered lines with the machine (stitch in the ditch) and also added some handquilted old shirts of his. I hope he likes it the way it turned out. Still have to wash it.

Very nice. I used to love making things for my dad......My dad was absolutely thrilled with the items I made him over the years. i think his favorite was when I patched the elbows in a beloved jacket he wore a great deal. I took some leather to make the patches and sewed them over the worn elbows in that jacket, and he was able to wear the jacket for about 10 more years after that.

OH wow that is so lovely. I collect embroidered pieces and have wondered how to make use of them. This is a great idea!
