    Default Ironing board recommendations?

We have talked many times about favorite irons. But does anyone have a recommendation for an ironing board? I'm 5' 6" and looking for something tall -- easier on my back & neck; sturdy; preferably spacious too. But given my set-up, it has to be a regular freestanding board that I can fold up and put away -- I don't have a surface suitable for making my own.

    thank you!

I just use the adjustable board you can get at places like walmart. Get one of the better ones and they last for many years.

I got this one at Walmart and am happy with it. My cover is lighter. The widest part is 18''. I like the rack underneath for a currant project.

It's heavy too.I don't see it rusting either. A problem here.

My current board (purchased at Target many moons ago) is adjustable up to 35 inches but I think an extra four or five inches in height would be more comfortable.

Edited to add, it looks like Lorie's suggestion raises to 40 inches -- yay!

Homz Professional Wide-Top Ironing Board, Cream - Walmart.com I have one like this. I'm 6'2" and it isn't all the way up, that was just a tad too high.

I bought the wide ironing board shown in the link in August. I have never in my life had such a great ironing board. Silly to rhapsodize over an ironing board, but it makes a big difference for me. This board is extremely stable and sturdy. Nothing rickety or squeaky going on. Best feature besides the two shelves is that it adjusts to 39 inches tall, thus making it ergonomically better for me at 5' 6. It has the wide surface - room for my small rotating mat to trim pieces I've just pressed. So convenient.

I don't think it's silly to rhapsodize over an ironing board -- it is an important tool for a quilter! We were house-sitting over the winter holidays and there was a taller ironing board there -- boy, it makes such a difference to have something at the right height.

Thank you for the options, everyone.

I'll rhapsodize over mine. lol. I went to Wally's to get a new board and it was the last one. While I was in there it started pouring. Not a little shower but a full on storm. I went back in to buy a poncho to get to my car. Luckily the board was wrapped in plastic wrap. Someone actually helped me put in my car. I felt like I rescued a puppy.

I want to the W store & now have the same ironing board as you, Lori! It seems much better than my old one.
