Default Best marking tool for quilt top

Alright, I am going to try and quilt my first top. What is everyone best tool to mark a quilt for a pattern? I am so nervous about quilting the top. I am to much of a beginner to free lance this so I am going to use the MSQ circle magic template as my pattern, But what marker can I use that I don't have to wash the quilt.
    Thanks for your help.

My favorite marking tool is the Fons and Porter or the Sewline graphite mechanical pencil with the white lead. The marks last for days and erase completely by wiping with a microfiber cloth. However, since the mark is white it does not show on white or very light fabric.

I use General's Chalk from FQS, it is a pencil. Fons and Porter also makes a water soluble graphite pencil you can find at Jo Ann's. If you use either of these you will have to wash the quilt to get the marks out.

That said, someone will advise Frixion markers to you. I do not use them, not because of bad experience or anything, I just happen to like chalk pencils. But you have asked a loaded question, so expect to get many different answers! Good luck.

I would use frixion pens. They iron right out. But like was said already, you will get many different answers. I would say he best one is more up to you than anything else. Whatever you feel comfortable with. Very best of luck.

I love the frixion pens, I made a quilt last year for my daughter that was shipped to Ohio in January where it was 10 degrees....was very worried that the cold would bring the marks back, but my daughter said it was perfect no marks

I love the triangular shaped tailor's "chalk". It feels like wax.... The marks come right out, when the quilt is washed. I found this at my LQS... Cost was about five bucks.... I think....

I need to try to find some of this. But if it is a triangle how do you keep a sharp edge on it?
