Default My first (and probably last) block on a quilting blog!

I was on a waitlist for a Bonnie Hunter workshop in Marshall, MO, and the quilt guild called on Sunday evening to say a space had opened up for Monday morning at 90 am and did I want to come? I said, well, wow, there are two problems with that, I have no book and no rulers and no fabric -- & the organizer said, you can borrow some rulers, and it's scrap quilting, so come anyway. So I rummaged through my stash & my scraps for anything remotely suitable as fabric, packed my sewing supplies, and had six hours of sleep before hopping on the road to get to Marshall.

The guild folks were so friendly, and Bonnie was great, and I learned a lot & put together the craziest looking blocks in the room from my miscellaneous bits of fabric. Everyone else had done more advance planning because they knew they had a spot in the workshop at least a week before and had these quite cohesive color schemes, even the ones who were scrap quilting -- coordinated colors or all shirting fabrics or whatever. Their blocks looked great. Mine looked -- well -- let's call them scrappy. Some of my fellow quilters said nice things about them but a few were clearly being a little creative to come up with a compliment. (Good thing quilters are such nice folks -- they all tried!) But I had a good time, headed home, and reported in on the WIP thread.

And look what Angelia spotted on Bonnie's blog this morning -- my blocks! I'm tickled pink. Mine are the scrappiest ones with the comment "Wonderful prints". How fun is that!

I learned pretty much everything I know about quilting from this forum, so you should be tickled too.

WOW! I loved those blocks when I read her blog this morning! In fact, I loved all of the blocks she showed. Aren't her classes the best? You were so lucky to get in. My friend and I went to one here in March - I hope someday I will get to do that again, but she doesn't have anything scheduled in this area for the next few years.

Keep us posted on the progress of that quilt!
